Tales From The Cells is the reality inside United States Prisons, both Federal and State. We are involved in advocacy and reform! Redemption and confession with our My Story section and lost, lonely souls with our Pen Pal section. We give prisoners a voice, a platform to tell their story, to offer up their lifestyle inside, and to air problems within the prison walls. This is as close to the inside as you will ever get without actually walking inside the world within a world. Reality at it's finest, Can you handle the Truth?

How You Doin'?

That saying from Joey on "Friends"- I always find it funny-

I am a Biker, 6 foot, 200 pounds, long golden hair, and green eyes. Ya know what they say about people with green eyes right?? I've worked out most of my life, so I stay in pretty good shape.

I'll be 44 years young this November. I have the "mutt" blood in me. I'm English, Irish, German, and Cherokee. I've been down 15 years, and I'm serving a Life sentence. A little more on this topic down the line here.

I attend the sweat-lodge, sing songs, play the drum, and all that is part of the Red Road I walk.

We use to have weight meets here and I'd train as a Power Lifter. Now-a-days, we only get 1/2 hour to an hour to hit the "Pain Pile" (weight pile) so it's more or less repetitive reps- it's all good though- keeps me healthy!! I am not into games and lies. If you ask me something I'll tell you honestly, I won't lie. Things like that just come back to bite you when you do. Someone will tell their story of why they've been put in here, and I always say, "If you were a good lair you wouldn't be in prison." I told the complete truth and got sent to prison.

I am doing LIFE for murder, and I've always claimed my innocence. The truth of my case will set me free with an apology. The people who know me know I speak the truth. The New York Innocents Project is on my case, and that in itself should say alot. To anyone who knows of their track record- 239 people have been exonerated-they don't take cases unless they are sure they'll be able to get you out. So there is a little light on an otherwise dark tunnel. I am filing motions and so on. I hope within the next year or so I'll have my case over-turned and released!! I've been down for 15 years. Some people out there still feel that the Courts never get it wrong, but they in fact DO. Sadly it usually takes coming to such an extreme place in life in order to really know it for sure. This happens more often than not. Now with technology, DNA, it makes it much easier for innocence to be recognized, but even then, with technology comes human error. Railroaded is a good term. They are in a hurry to get a person thrown in here, but it takes years to undo the damage it causes. A person is worried at the time about what to do, all these legal terms thrown at you, lawyers, prosecutors, DAs, and lots of times being separated from loved ones. It's a sad time. The years it takes to undo the damage of a wronged conviction, well, it's just not right.

I miss my scoot- Riding is such a big part of a Bikers lifestyle. Like the Cowboy and the Horse. Take away one and it tears them apart. In my mind I am riding 24/7, that's what keeps a smile on me face! That and a positive attitude. I don't like being around negative people, that just drags ya down. I like Rock and Roll, 70's and newer, Nickelback rocks- Bluegrass, Blues, Jazz, and Country. I enjoy camping out; the campfire glow against friendly familiar faces, riding, working with my hands on bikes, cars, trucks, motors- that sort of thing. I'm a carpenter, a roofer, and can do bodywork. How is it said, "Trick of all Trades- Master of none?" haha!

I hear I have 7 grand-kids. The oldest is Tela, and she'll be 14 this December. I've only been able to see 3 of the kids in pictures. Tears me up inside, everybody needs a grandpa! I am from Kansas City. I had a son who would've been 30 years old this year, he past away 3 years ago. That was a very tough thing to go through, epically being on this side of the wall. I really do dig kids- they're cool, and for sure are the future!!

I'd like to write to keep in touch with the outside. A human connection to chit chat about the happenings of the news, what's going on in your life, your views, your likes and dislikes. You see, there are lots of people in here, lots of people to talk to, but we all think alike. Everybody wants what they can't have, a connection, something real. Knowledge is so important, weather your passing it along to family and friends or for your own self- it's good to have it' run along your path!

I'll answer any and all letters that come this way, and any questions that you ask. I've nothing to hide. I don't want anything from anyone, just company on paper and if a good friendship builds, perhaps the phone. See where things go from there. I am single- due to me not getting out too much these days!! haha! I'll be going to work in the kitchen here soon, $13.50 a month is the wage. I've got 3 hots and a cot, so I'll get by on that, I have always and will always carry my own way.

We are locked down a lot at this prison, get 2 hours out in the morning and 1 1/2 in the afternoon and 1 1/2 in the evening. This is a Level 4 prison, so "they" like to keep us under a tighter lock and key than prisons of a lesser level. I enjoy reading Western books, L'Amor- watching WWE, NASCAR, Drag racing whenever they show it (on what few channels we get) Two 1/2 Men is a funny show and I enjoy some sitcoms. Really any kind of comic show or movie, scary movies. In this life we all need a good laugh, whether it be at one's self or just in general. Heard any good jokes lately?

Well, there is a little bit on me, hope YOU drop a line and tell me a little bit on you! Remain strong and safe on your path through life.

Respect Always,
"Rider"
